Sure that simplifies things an awful lot, but it also speaks to the directness and lack of pretention that defines her songwriting. Potential boyfriends are pined after, the new guy doesn't make her feel like the feel old guy did, TV can't cheer her up, the summer is weird. This straightforward but relatable perspective is showcased in a sound that blends 1950s girl group sincerity, 1960s California pop optimism and 1990s grunge doom. It's totally dreamy.-
